Mt. Everest, also called Mount Qomolangma , is the highest peak in the world. Its Tibetan meaning of ‘Goddess the Third’ adds more mysterious color and magic power to the subject. As a result, it has intrigued all kinds of people since it was first discovered. Pilgrims trek long distances to present a pious worship, climbing enthusiasts run great risks to challenge its high altitude and the common tourists also yearn for a reverent look at this holy peak.

The altitude of Mt. Everest is now about 8,844.43 m. (29,017 ft.). It is the dominant peak of Himalayas, the northern brae in Tingri County of Tibet and the southern in the Nepal. The area has 4 peaks above 8,000 m. (26,247 ft.) and 38 peaks above 7,000 m. (22,965 ft.), hence the laudatory title ‘the Third Pole of the Earth’.

As the supreme point of the world, Mt. Everest is also blessed with many extreme wonders. The top part of the mountain is covered with snow all the year round. When the glaring sun shines on the mountain, the peak is just like a white pyramid miraculously transformed by the Goddess, leading us to imagine her semblance further. More often than not, the thick freely moving clouds and fogs, seeming as if a flag with the mast of the peak was swinging, will shroud the peak. This peculiar phenomenon of Mt. Everest is known as ‘Flag Cloud’. An additional wonder generated here are the bright glaciers, where ices are formed into various shapes like bridges, pagodas and others. You can also find miles of efflorescent rock physiognomy there, such as stalagmites, stelae, stone sword, and stone pagodas. The climbing pathfinders call this splendor at such high attitude ‘the Largest Park on the High Mountain’.

The area of Mt. Everest has been built as one of the national natural reserves, wherein live thousands of kinds of plants, hundreds of varieties of wild animals and dense virgin forests. Many of these are precious and rare, like the first-class protected animal ounces and the valuable timber sandals, etc.

At the foot of Mt. Everest is located the highest temple in the world, Rongbuk Monastery. At the altitude of about 5000 m. (16,404 ft.) and 25 km. (15.5 mi.) in the distance, it is also the best point to appreciate the scenery of Mt. Everest. Rongbuk Glacier around this area is also the largest among all the glaciers here.

Travel tips
Climbing Mt. Everest is very dangerous, only those who can endure the adverse weather and experienced climbers should venture onto it’s slopes. The area is frequently beset with sudden storms, snow, wind and the weather may change quickly in a day. Only the periods between early March and late May, along with early September and late October are fit for climbing, among which less than 20 days are actually fine. So keep a very close eye on the weather changes there if you want to climb. Mt. Everest lies in the borderline about 100 km. (62 mi.) south of Sino-Nepal Road, you can hire a car from Lhasa or take some vehicles by the way. For the dining and accommodation, Rongbuk Monastery is recommended.

The Annapurna Sanctuary is a natural alpine amphitheatre completely surrounded by snow capped mountains, Grandeurs Glaciers, all over 6000 meters. On this trek we will camp deep in the heart of the Sanctuary, as close as we can get to the Himalayan summits. We will witness magical sunrises and sunsets, when the mountains, glaciers and snows glow pink and gold.Trek begins at Pokhara with a short drive to the road head and then a walk to our first day at Ulleri. Over the next few days we will walk through idyllic villages and along ridges where spectacular panoramic views unfold to reveal magnificent mountain-escapes. We initially head west to Ghorepani and an ascent of Poon Hill (3192m) for impressive views of the mountains at sunrise. Walking through oak and rhododendron forests we enter the Modi Khola Valley, entrance to the Sanctuary, known as the ‘gate’ is guarded by the twin peaks of Machapuchare and Hiunchuli. Now we are surrounded by an array of ice-bound peaks with the enormous south face of Annapurna 1 dominating the basin. It is an easy walk to Annapurna Base Camp and there is time to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. We retrace our steps down the Modi Khola Valley before taking a different route back to Pokhara though Villages, see the species of Flora and Fauna.

The Mt.Kailash is recognized by whole world as god-mountain, also regarded as the center of the world by Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Bonism. It is not the highest mountain in this area, but only it has the all the snow peakshining out with great brilliancy in the sunshine, have a strong attraction for one’s eyes. Add the special shape, with one big difference from the surrounding hills, have to let a person is full of religious piety and surprise. The Mt.Kailash is frequently with the white clouds around, the native think that someone has the good fortune if can see the peak.

For centuries, the mountain Kailash always the fascinating place in the mind of the pilgrims and the explorers, but so far has not anyone been able to ascend the mountain, or has no one dared to offend the center of the world. Travelers places the vision on this piece of holy land only in recent years, but the number is still small, this may be a gratifying thing.
Indian called this mountain Kailash; also think that here is the world center. In Hinduism, the Siva who possesses the biggest supernatural power and the highest status in three main Lord lives in here. And the upstream of India’s Indus River and Ganges Riveroriginate in this origin. Therefore, it is not strange seeing large quantities of Indian pilgrimages on mountain Kailash.

For a tour from Lhasa to Mount Everest Base Camp, we usually have two options for returning at the end – one is to get back to Lhasa and another one is to drive further to Kathmandu through the border town of Zhangmu between China and Nepal.

When planning such a trip, we first shall leave 2 to 3 days in Lhasa, not only for sightseeing there but also for high altitude acclimatization. Most people will not have any problem with the high altitude after some rest. During sightseeing in Lhasa, we should at least include the most beautiful splendor in Tibet – Potala Palace and the Tibetan spiritual center of Jokhang Temple. If the time permits, we usually shall have one day exploration to the Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery to get a glimpse of how Tibetan monks live or study there. Then we will drive out of Lhasa for other places of the route.

As part of the road to Gyantse is under reconstruction now, our next stop would be Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. There is the Tashilumpo Monastery which stores the biggest copper Buddha statue in the world. The old town of Shigatse is also very interesting just like that of Lhasa. You may find some special souvenirs in the local market as well.

The next day we can either drive to Gyantse for a visit (approx. 180km back and forth) or skip Gyantse and drive forward to Ronbuk Monastery. The Shigatse-Ronbuk is a long trip of around 350km with the most difficult part in the last 100km. Ronbuk Monastery is the highest monastery in the world and only 8km from the Mt. Everest Base Camp. Upon arrival, we would be able to enjoy the glorious evening scenery of Mount Everest in distance. Overnight we usually stay at the Ronbuk Monastery guesthouse.

And in the next early morning, we will walk or take a carriage forward to the Mount Everest Base Camp.As we know there is very limited time to view the true face of Mount Everest in a year, many people feel it is already an unforgettable experience when just being with this highest mountain in the world..After enjoy the morning scenery of Mount Everest, we will get back to Tingri or forward to Shigatse depending on our last stop to Zhangmu or Lhasa. .

This Mount Everest Base Camp tour requires at least 7-8 days including that for high altitude acclimatization in Lhasa. The prime time for it shall be from May to October though it is available throughout the year except some snowing days in February (and raining days in August for the Friendship Highway to Kathmandu). Some tourists told us that they feel they changed to another person after the trip. I guess this might be because they experienced something really very unique in life.

Sherry Jia, experienced Tibet travel advisor from http://www.tibetantours.net, a local travel agency based in Lhasa with an office in Chengdu, Capital of Sichuan Provice in China handling all on-line inquiries regarding a private tour to Tibet and China. For the detailed day-to-day itinerary of this Mount Everest Base Camp trip in Tibet,

Jordan Romero, a 13-year-old Californian boy and the world’s youngest mountaineer who successfully surmounted the world highest mountain Qomolangma, returned to the advanced base camp (ABC) at around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the China Tibet Mountaineering Association (CTMA).

Sonam Wangchen, base camp mountaineering head of the CTMA Himalayan Expedition, told Xinhua that Romero’s team have tried to scale the summit from 7,500 meters Saturday, and it took 14 hours for them to reach the peak 8,844 meters above sea level.

Romero’s teammates include his father, his father’s girlfriend, and three sherpas, who also reached the top.

“I summited at 9:45 am on 22 (Saturday)” Jordan Romero told Xinhua over satellite phone Sunday at ABC, which is 6,500 meters above sea level.

The Romero team safely returned to camp 2, 7,790 meters above sea level Saturday and camped there one night. Leaving camp 2 at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, the team arrived at the advanced base camp around 6:00 p.m.

“I feel really good, no problem at all,” Romero said. “It is all about an experience, and I am glad to be back to the advanced base camp safely.”

“I just want to say that nothing is impossible, and age does not matter, and I want to inspire more people and let them get out of the door,” Romero said.

When talking about people’s concerns and criticism about his expedition at such a young age, he said “We have been receiving emails from many people, and there are many people criticizing my father, but I want to say that, really, this whole thing is my idea, and I have completed it with my family around. ”

The team will arrive at the base camp, which is 5,200 meters above sea leave, in two days.

The previous world record was set by a Nepalese boy, Temba Temba, who reached the summit of the Mt. Qomolangma at 16.

From July 2006 to September 2009, along with his father and stepmother, Romero had climbed Kilimanjaro in Africa, Kosciuszko in Australia, Elbrus in Europe/Russia, Aconcagua in South America, Denali in North America, and Carstensz Pyramid in Oceania.

Jordan’s team will leave for Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica in December, to achieve his dream of conquering all the highest mountains in the seven continents before the end of this year.
