16The highest mountain in the world attracts climbers of all levels, from well experienced mountaineers to novice climbers willing to pay substantial sums to professional mountain guides to complete a successful climb. The mountain, while not posing substantial technical climbing difficulty on the standard route, still has many inherent dangers such as altitude sickness, weather and wind.
Mount Everest relief mapMount Everest – also called Sagarmatha Chomolungma or Qomolangma or Zhumulangma – is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height above sea level of its summit, 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in High Asia, is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet, China. The full panorama was published as part of the 50th anniversary of the establishment in May 2003, for the first who reached the summit of Everest 50 years ago, 29 May 1953 summit of Mount Everest was reached for the first times by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

Roderick Mackenzie reached the summit. It was from the No. 271
It was in 1953 that as far as I know, this is the only 360 degree
Panorama from the top.

Roderick Mackenzie made the image at the top of Mount Everest May 24 1989. You will find below in his own words his feelings of the event.

In a book entitled Reflections Everest from the top by Christine Gee & Garry Weare who were recently published. It contains contributions from a large number of climbers who reached the summit over the past 50 years.

Why do I climb Everest?
I have a theory that people climb to the smell of it. Air at high altitude feels completely different to lower altitudes. People become addicted to this smell and need more to get less and less of it. That’s what makes them more expensive.

What I think on the top?
When I reached the south summit I was suffering from a lack of Spanish Olives. I was very concerned about the box of thoughts olives sitting in my tent at base camp. The concern is the result of a dream very intensesur olives which was interrupted by the alarm me calling our summit attempt. When I reached the summit to the south on the main summit interested me from a mountaineering point of view and all the Dreamings of olives were banished from my head.

At the top I felt a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. Our only other comments to the congratulations after the first was the fact that the summit is precisely halfway. It seemed to me that the curvature of Laterre appeared, and I spent some time trying to think of a way to test whether this was a real observation or an illusion. In the end, I decided it was an illusion, but it was a strong illusion. Overall my feeling was of surprise. I am often surprised by situations queja find myself in.

My work in India has been slightly softened by my ascent of Everest. Many people underestimate the rise of an Everest climber to transmit in any manner that is more wisdom in many subjects. I can not agree, but I never dispute.
