Tibet plans 28 billion yuan (3.7 billion U.S. dollars) in ten key construction projects this year to invest, including the extension of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, said Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

“Experts are still working on the designs and environmental assessments for the extension of the line and government officials have begun to lose the calculation of compensation for those who make their land and property for the railroad,” said Qiangba Puncog.

The 254-km extension of the line, the two largest cities in Tibet – Lhasa and Shigatse – is the line of the first delivery of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau connects. Construction is expected to begin this year and be completed in 2010 at a cost of 11 million yuan (1.42 billion U.S. dollars).

The hotel is located in the southwestern region of Tibet and neighboring Nepal, Bhutan and India, Xigaze is 280 km south of Lhasa.

The Qinghai-Tibet railway runs 1956 kilometers from Xining city in Qinghai province to Lhasa in Tibet, was officially opened in July 2006. It is the highest railway in the world and ended Tibet’s history without railway.

Nine more projects are expected to begin this year, including hydro Zangmu Yarlung Zangbo, the water project in the county of Punda and renovation of the Sichuan-Tibet highway.
